It was 2011 and I came across a movie named P.S. I Love You (2007), it seemed like a beautiful love story to begin with but the gears changed pretty quickly. It had elements of sadness, pain, death and a lot of emotions which made me wonder if it was a love story. But by the time it ended, I was wondering whether it was about love or death. or maybe it was about love that surpasses death.
It made me wonder, if Gerry (played by Gerard Butler), knew he was going to die and made such a brilliant plan for the love of his life Holly (played by Hilary Swank).
But don’t we all know that we are going to die? Don’t we love anybody enough to plan for them after we are gone?
Personally, both were a strong Yes for me but I hadn’t done anything around it. As I looked around and talked to people, they all had Big ‘Yes’ for both questions but most of them were stumped by why they hadn’t done yet anything about it.
Over the next decade the idea evolved and so did the fintech world. With more financial solutions, more inheritance problems were created. While emotion, empathy, care and love remained a centrepiece in the solution we were thinking of, losing a few loved ones ourselves and talking to so many others who had gone through the same journey, we realised the biggest thorn in the pie was finance.
So we launched Kustodian.life with the aim to:
Help people organise all their finances in one place.
Nudge them to build better financial hygiene (by finding discrepancies in their assets like name mismatch etc and asking them to fix them.)
When tragedy strikes, be there with their family and loved ones as an expert guide to take them through the cumbersome process of getting access to the wealth that has been left behind.
